City Winery to Open Second Cellar Door at Eagle St Pier

Wine-lovers rejoice, City Winery are opening a sophisticated Cellar Door and bistro at Eagle Street Pier, slated for launch late March. The masterminds behind Brisbane’s own Gerler Wine, Dave Cush and Adam Penberthy, said they are looking forward to opening their second CBD based cellar door and fourth venue, just over 2 years since first cutting the ribbon on the original Wandoo St winery.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be able to offer city-dwellers another space to enjoy our Brisbane made wines, whilst snacking on the sensational, farm gate-to-plate food the City Winery Chefs prepare,” said Penberthy.

Nestled amongst the likes of River icons including Mr & Mrs G’s, Naga and Coppa, the new City Winery Cellar Door location boasts river views and acts as the perfect stop off on your way to the ferry after a long day in the office!

Head winemaker and co-founder Dave Cush said the location was perfectly positioned in the heart of the Golden Triangle.

“It will be a great spot for that cheeky after-work wine, or casual lunch or dinner,” said Cush.

“We’ll be featuring all of our latest Gerler wines as well as our favourite local craft beers, spirits and the odd cocktail – there will be something for everyone.”

Billy Dawson of Billy Dawson Architects is designing the layout and says the space has been designed to deliver the same charming and inviting atmosphere the original City Winery venue in Wandoo street is known for.

“We’ve borrowed materials and design cues from iconic winery’s and cellar doors country-wide, so the fit out aims to momentarily take our patrons away from the hustle and bustle of the city and transport them somewhere much more relaxed.”

The venue will also play host to the myriad of experiences City Winery have become known for. Customers will be able to partake in wine blending workshop, food-and-wine pairing experience, or a wine tasting session lead by their extremely knowledgeable staff. The venue will house a private dining space for up to 18 people.

This latest accomplishment for the City Winery crew is set to open late March, diagonally opposite The Coffee Club at Eagle Street Pier.
